THE
CAPTAIN BARCLAY CHALLENGE
Former top jockey Richard Dunwoody is now three-quarters of the way
through his
attempt to repeat Captain Barclay's feat, performed in 1809,
of walking 1 mile in each of 1000 consecutive hours.
Richard has now passed the 600-miles mark; for up-to-date information
on progress,
visit the web site at http://www.dunwoody1000mile.com,
or register
for news updates.
To see him in action, go the Bedford Lodge Hotel, Bury Road, Newmarket,
(half a mile from the Clock Tower at the top of the High Street);
Richard starts a mile at about twenty minutes to each odd hour (2:40, 4:40, etc.), waits
until the clock strikes the hour and then does another;
he will always
be glad of company.
For information on how to help, ask the organiser of the attempt, Ron Wallwork.
